Our Partnership with St John the Evangelist Church, Caterham
Our connection with our local parish church, St John the Evangelist Church in Caterham Valley (part of the Caterham Team Ministry), forms the heart of our school’s faith identity. The church and school enjoy an active, continuous partnership:
- Collective Worship & Clergy Visits: The Parish Vicar, Rev. Jaimee, regularly visits the school to lead weekly Collective Worship, share assemblies, and spend time with children across all year groups.
- Church Services & Celebrations: Throughout the academic year, our school family gathers at St John the Evangelist Church to mark key events in the Christian calendar, including Harvest Festival, Christmas services, Easter celebrations, and Year 6 Leavers' Services.
- Governance & Spiritual Oversight: Clergy and foundation governors appointed by the church actively support the school’s leadership team, providing spiritual direction, governance oversight, and pastoral guidance.
- Parish Life & Community: School families are warmly welcomed into the broader worshipping community of St John’s, bridging the gap between home, school, and parish life.
St John’s Church is called by God to be his people through faith in Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit; worshipping him, growing in holiness, making disciples and serving others.
St John's are always pleased to welcome new people to their services and social events. The parish covers the whole of Caterham Valley and is also a part of the Caterham Team Ministry.

Our Connection with the Diocese of Southwark
St John’s C of E Primary School is proud to be part of the Diocese of Southwark family of Anglican schools across South London and East Surrey.
- Diocesan Board of Education (SDBE): We work in close partnership with the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education, drawing on their guidance, educational support, and inspection frameworks to maintain high standards in Religious Education (RE) and school ethos.
- Cathedral Worship: Our school participates in diocesan events and services at Southwark Cathedral, offering pupils memorable opportunities to celebrate their faith alongside children from other church schools across the diocese.

Our tri-fold partnership between School, Parish Church, and Diocese ensures that St John’s C of E Primary School is a place where faith is lived out daily. Together, we guide our children to learn, grow, and demonstrate love "with actions and in truth."
