Collective Worship

Collective Worship - please see our policy here

Collective Worship is an important part of life at St John’s. All staff and pupils attend the local parish church, our vicar makes regular visits to the school and there is a clear pattern of worship throughout the year. There is a common structure to the acts of worship which enhance our involvement with the parish and the focal point of candles and cloth add to the feeling of worship as a special time. The school attends the parish church for services at major festivals and writes articles for the parish magazine.

We are committed to ensuring our pupils leave our school as respectful, considerate and aspirational young people who are inspired by Christian values.

Class Collective Worship

Each class has a chance to present some of their learning to their families and friends through leading a Collective Act of Worship. Each class decides upon a theme for their Collective Worship which is usually based on the class Theme project or it may be related to another piece of work they have been doing in class or a topical issue. Collective Worship supports the distinctive Christian character of our school, reaffirms our Christian values and celebrates the contribution that each child makes to our community.

All class parents and relatives are invited in to watch the Collective Act of Worship
Collective Worship will start at 9 am and last for approximately 30 minutes.
